Two big sad incidents early in the new year of 2024

In Japan, two major and sad accidents occurred in early January 2024.

January 1

A large earthquake occurred in Ishikawa Prefecture, which faces the Sea of Japan. This area had been the site of frequent earthquakes in recent years. However, all of Japan was surprised that such a large earthquake had occurred.

A collision occurred between a JAL passenger plane and a Japan Coast Guard plane at Haneda Airport. The accident was caused by a discrepancy in information between the airplane pilot and the airport controller.

It was a miracle that all JAL passengers and crew were able to evacuate.

Five people on board the Japan Coast Guard plane were killed. It was a sad accident.
